Extreme environments are what Dr Kevin Fong is all about. It doesn’t matter too much where the danger and excitement are coming from but the motivational speaker and doctor of medicine for the Air Ambulance service has earned a reputation via his appearances on TV and radio as someone who looks at things a little differently.
Among the TV programmes that Dr Fong has been involved in writing and presenting are Extreme A&E, Back from the Dead, How to Avoid Mistakes in Surgery, Monitor Me (a Horizon programme) and How to Mend a Broken Heart. Kevin has also appeared in the extreme physiology programme To Boldly Go and in Space Shuttle: The Final Mission.
As well as working with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) at the Johnson Space Centre in Houston and the Kennedy Space Centre in Cape Canaveral, motivational speaker Kevin is the founder and associate director of the Centre for Altitude Space and Extreme Environment Medicine. CASE Medicine looks at how the human body copes when tested in extreme environments.
Audiences love Kevin’s engaging and fascinating tales about extreme medicine and how what is being discovered can help others. Finally, Dr Fong is author of the book Extremes, which won a science award in the USA, and a consultant anaesthetist at University College London Hospital.
