A member of the British Cycling Pursuit Team, riding alongside fellow motivational speaker Sir Bradley Wiggins, Andy Tennant has won several fistfuls of gold, silver and bronze medals.
As well as Team Wiggins, Andy has ridden for Rapha Condor JLT and Madison Genesis. The gold medals he achieved were in the 2009 and 2010 Tour Series and the 2009 World Cups in Manchester and Melbourne, the 2010 and 2011 European Championships, the 2011 Tour Series and the 2012 World Championships.
Although he was on the cycling team for the 2012 Olympics in London, he never rode, having to sit by instead and watch his colleagues win a gold medal.
Tennant also won gold medals at the 2013 Manchester World Cup, the 2014 and 2015 European Championships, and the 2015 British Championships. Andy won silver medals in the 2010 World Cup, the 2010 and 2013 World Championships and the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
As well as being a Double Stage winner at the Flèche du Sud in Luxembourg, Andy won bronze medals at the 2011 and 2016 World Championships.
What is all the more remarkable about Tennant’s achievements is that he managed them while having a heart condition which was expected to restrict his activities. The fact that it didn’t is a major reason that Andy does voluntary work for the British Heart Foundation.
