John Aldridge

Football legend with Liverpool and Tranmere

John Aldridge

John Aldridge is one of the famous faces of Liverpool football club who was instrumental in the club reaching the dizzy heights of league and European competitions during the 1980s. With his trademark moustache (now morphed into a more trendy goatee), this motivational speaker is instantly recognisable.

Aldridge also played for the Republic of Ireland national side 69 times between 1986 and 1996 but it is his incredibly impressive 476 goals over his career that has earned him the status of ‘legendary’.

Staying on Merseyside, this motivational speaker played a massive 243 games for Tranmere Rovers and hit the back of the net 138 times in seven seasons. Other teams he played for include Newport County, Oxford United, and Real Sociedad.

When he was at Tranmere Rovers, Aldridge was player-manager up until 2001, the only managerial position he has held to date. After that time, John forged a successful career as a pundit on radio and TV, including a lengthy relationship with Liverpool’s local radio station Radio City 96.7. Like the fans who Aldridge engages with across the airwaves, delegates to conferences and audiences at other events love to hear his tales from his times at the highest levels of national and international football.
