If you’re looking for an inspirational and motivational speaker, Rachel Smith should be at the top of your list when arranging a corporate or private event.
In dragon boating, for example, Rachel has represented Great Britain, breaking two world records and winning 25 world and European medals of all colours. She was also the torch bearer for the London 2012 Olympic torch relay.
In rowing, Rachel completed the Atlantic race in 76 days, 11 hours and 12 minutes and won the women’s pairs class, raising more than £65,000 for breast cancer care. She says that rowing the ocean was “both the best and worst thing I’ve ever done and without question the toughest”.
In sailing, the motivational speaker has travelled a total of 800 miles and is now the holder of the Royal Yachting Association’s coastal skipper and ocean yachtmaster qualifications. According to the RYA, a yachtmaster needs a wealth of knowledge to be able to cope in demanding situations. The qualification is said to be “the ultimate aim of many skippers, both professional and recreational”.
In kayaking, Rachel Smith has completed the 40-mile Three Lakes Challenge, which takes in Bala Lake (once the largest natural body of water in Wales), Loch Lomond (the largest inland stretch of water in Great Britain) and Windermere (the largest natural lake in England).

Rachel spoke at our annual conference about her amazing adventure with her rowing partner Lin. Our conference delegates are finance professionals whose work involves numbers, budgets and processes, but they were totally captivated by their story. Incredible determination, bravery and passion shone through with every word and we really felt as if we were riding the same rollercoaster of emotions that they went through. Several of our delegates were moved to tears by their story – no mean feat to reduce grown men to tears! ‘The theme of our Conference was “Reach for the Stars – realising organisational and personal potential” and you were a fabulous illustration of what can happen when you look beyond the ordinary and challenge yourself to do the extraordinary. A truly exceptional account of a truly amazing and awe-inspiring achievement.‘ CIPFA
‘Rachel provides an inspirational story of a lady on a mission to do something different. She tells a great tale of the trials and tribulations that go with leaving behind a steady job to embark on an adventure of epic proportions. Anyone lacking in motivation should go listen to Rachel. She’s the epitome of when you put your mind to something you can achieve great things.’ Adventure Travel Show
