Although a major win eluded him, Ronan Rafferty enjoyed a great deal of success on the European Tour claiming several victories during the late 80s and early 90s. Of Northern Ireland descent, he turned professional in 1981 and has 14 professional tour wins to date. Highest ranking tour ranking was 16th in 1990 and his highest major finish was tied 14th at the Open Championship in 1984. He won the European Tour Order of Merit winner in 1989 and represented Europe that year in the Ryder Cup with the team drawing with the US, but retaining the trophy having won in 1987.
