Biography:

Anita Asante is a celebrated international footballer who currently coaches the Bristol City Women FC team. In all her years dedicated to the sport, she has garnered knowledge on how to navigate a heavily male-dominated sport as a female player. She is now available to share her experiences through her work as a speaker at a range of events where she talks about discrimination in football, high performance, teamwork, gender, race, and LGBT+ equality in the sport.

Anita studied at Brunel University and now is driven by her love for the sport to complete her PhD in the Governorship of Women’s Football. Her career has seen her play for a number of well-reputed teams such as Arsenal, Chelsea and most recently Aston Villa. She has also played internationally for both England and Great Britain and debuted the very first Great Britain team at the 2012 London Olympics, earning a lot of recognition for her performance.

In her time at Arsenal, she was able to contribute to the team winning both the FA Cup and Premier League. She was also part of the Arsenal team when they achieved the amazing feat of winning the UEFA Women’s Cup, being the only team outside of Germany or Scandinavia to ever do so. Having won 75 caps or so for her international appearances, Anita is determined to help other women and minorities to find their way in sports. She represents women in sports when she presents for BBC and Sky Sports and serves as the Ambassador or Show Racism the Red Card and Amnesty International today.

Part of winning teams like WPS Champions Sky Blue, FC Rosengard she has done exceedingly well at the 2009 US WPS Championship, 2014 & 2015 Damallsvenskan League and the 2017 Swedish Super Cup. Now she is using her platform as a speaker to call attention to issues like gender, race and LGBT+ discrimination in sports and wants to encourage more women to find their footing in sports if they so wish.
