Claire Brumby is a British entrepreneur and businesswoman famous for being the co-founder of Scrubbys Crisps, a brand featured on Dragons’ Den. With husband John by her side, Claire developed Scrubby’s Crisps from scratch, determined to create a snack that other mothers would be proud to give their children.
Scrubbys then came to the attention of the nation in 2014 when Claire appeared on the BBC business show alongside John. Despite loving the taste of the crisps, which have 30 percent less fat than mainstream varieties, all of the Dragons, save Duncan Bannatyne, declared themselves out. This setback would only be temporary, for the show prompted an outpouring of support from the British public and Scrubbys Crisps began flying off the shelves.
With awards won for the Scrubbys brand, individual recipes and her own business management and marketing abilities, Claire’s biggest achievement nevertheless remains the raising of her three children. Bringing her personal experience as a mother together with her professional experience, Claire has become both a successful business owner and much sought after retail speaker. The success with which she brought her brand into the public eye prove Claire’s business acumen, whilst her own personal determination and passion mark her as an inspirational and informative business speaker.
As a retail speaker, Claire not only provides an insight into how she achieved such success for Scrubbys but also how she balances a busy and fruitful work life with the responsibilities and joys of motherhood.
Most recently, Claire Brumby was inducted into the Top Speakers to Book for International Women's Day, a tribute to her becoming an empowering entrepreneur and businesswoman.
