Showing the traits of a businessman from the age of 12, Daykin founded his first business when he was a child. RS2Services sold game accounts and virtual currency to players of the game Runescape. Only a year later he started a second business which was a nationwide tutoring agency called Tutor Magnet.
At the age of 13, Jordan joined forces with his Grandfather who had been trying to hang a curtain rail in his bedroom but couldn’t find a plasterboard fixing suitable. After trying and testing many remedies, they had invented GripIt by 2012. With Jordan identifying a gap in the market, he approached the Dragons at only 18 and became the youngest contestant to secure an investment.
Now, GripIt Fixings is stocked in over 5,000 UK stores and exported to 32 countries including the US, Canada, United Arab Emirates and New Zealand. Along with Meaden’s investment, Daykin managed to raise £2 million through crowdfunding campaigns to move the business into a 20,000 square foot premises in Wiltshire.
Jordan has been named one of Britain’s leading young entrepreneurs on City AM’s list of the 100 Most Powerful Entrepreneurs in the UK. He has also featured on BBC Two’s Dragons' Den spin-off, Pitches to Riches, featuring the biggest success stories of the show.
