Expert business economist, Dr Andrew Sentance CBE has worked in a number of senior positions advising on economics and global affairs. From British Airways to Pricewaterhouse Coopers and the Confederation of British Industry, Andrew has grown his expertise of the UK’s economy and shaped the economical practices of such businesses and organisations. Best known for his expertise as a business economist, Andrew formerly worked as a Senior Economic Advisor for Pricewaterhouse Coopers (PWC LLP). Widely considered as one of the world’s foremost financial experts, Andrew has also shared his talents as an external member of the Monetary Policy Committee of the Bank of England and the Director of Economic Forecasting at the London University. He is also widely known for his work as the founder of the Treasury’s Panel of Independent Forecasters and authoring his book Rediscovering Growth: After the Crisis.
Before forging his successful career in economics, Andrew studied at Clare College and graduated with a BA in Economics. He later went on to graduate with an MSc in Economics from the London School of Economics and then later with a PhD in Economics. During the early days of his career, Andrew worked as the Head of Economic Policy and Director of Economic Affairs at the Confederation of British Industry. Working here for several years, Andrew then went on to join London University as their Director of the Centre for Economic Forecasting. He then went on to join British Airways, where he applied his economical expertise in chairing the investment committee of the BA Pension Fund. Also during his time with British Airways, Andrew played a pivotal part in the Future Size and Shape plan, in a bid to majorly turnaround the business.
Andrew has also worked in several other positions. He has also formerly been a member of the Commission for Integrated Transport and an expert advisor for the Department for Transport. He has also been the Vice President of the Society of Business Economists and Chairman of The City UK’s Independent Economists Group. He has also worked in education, with a Visiting Professorship at the University of London and as a Professor of Sustainable Business at the University of Warwick. He has also shared his time as a Government Advisor, sharing his knowledge in official statistics and corporate social responsibility.
