Tomi Popoola is the Founder and CEO of Slash Finances, a leading voice in cloud computing, financial technology and inclusive innovation. With a background in Computer Science and Finance, she has built a career at the intersection of cloud architecture, fintech transformation and DEI advocacy, becoming one of the most influential Black women in UK technology. Her mission centres on financial inclusion, accessible technology and empowering underrepresented communities to thrive in digital industries.
Tomi began her professional journey in banking, developing strong analytical and technical foundations during her early career at JP Morgan. She went on to join Amazon Web Services, where she excelled as a Solutions Architect, supporting cloud adoption and modernisation programmes for Fortune 500 firms. During her years at AWS, she became known for her expertise in cloud-native engineering, multi-region deployments and SRE best practice. Her work earned her multiple accolades, including AWS Employee of the Year for Cloud Solutions Innovation and Solutions Architect of the Year in the UK.
In 2021, Tomi founded Slash Finances, a company dedicated to improving financial literacy and access through technology-driven tools and education. As CEO, she leads initiatives that support individuals and businesses in navigating digital finance, automation and cloud-enabled financial systems. Alongside this, she has remained a strong advocate for DEI, shaping conversations on representation in tech, digital accessibility and equality in financial services.
A highly sought-after global speaker, Tomi has delivered more than 30 keynotes across major conferences and summits, including AWS re:Invent roadshows, the National DevOps Conference, Women in Tech events and Black Tech Fest. Her presentations have reached more than 100,000 people, covering topics such as generative AI, financial tech automation, cloud strategy and inclusive technology.
