Dame Inga Beale is a trailblazing business leader and motivational speaker renowned for her transformative impact on the insurance industry and her unwavering advocacy for diversity and inclusion. With decades of experience in global finance, Inga is best known for becoming the first female CEO of Lloyd’s of London in its 328-year history. Her career is defined by courage, innovation, and a relentless commitment to equity, qualities that make her a highly sought-after speaker at major corporate and governmental events, including for organisations like Google and the Ministry of Defence.
Inga’s journey began in 1982 when she took on the role of reinsurance underwriter at Prudential Assurance. Appalled by the gender inequality she witnessed early on, she took a year off to travel and returned to the industry with a renewed perspective. This led to international roles with General Electric and Zurich Insurance Group, as well as top executive positions at Converium, Canopius Group, and the Chartered Insurance Institute. Her early years were marked by a determination to break through the industry's rigid traditions and pave the way for more inclusive leadership.
Over the years, Inga has continued to build an impressive portfolio of leadership roles. She became Chair of Mediclinic in 2020 and serves as a Non-Executive Director for Crawford & Company. Her more recent appointments include President of The British-Swiss Chamber of Commerce in 2022 and membership on the Board of the International Panel on the Information Environment as of December 2024. Recognised for her services to the economy, Inga was honoured with a DBE and continues to play a pivotal role in initiatives like Insuring Women’s Futures, the Stonewall Development Council, and the HIV Commission.
Inga is regularly hired as a speaker not just for her business acumen, but also for her authenticity and passion for social progress. Known for challenging tradition and reshaping risk culture, she speaks powerfully on modern leadership, inclusive workforces, and adapting heritage companies to contemporary expectations. Her unique combination of executive expertise and human-centred values positions her as an inspiring voice for forward-thinking organisations.
