Matt Weston is an English skeleton racer, and most recently became a double Olympic champion in the men’s and mixed team race, becoming the first Briton to win two gold medals at a Winter Olympic Games. Matt is also a World and European Champion and has won the overall World Cup title three times.
After participating in UK Sport’s Discover Your Gold initiative, a talent identification programme, Matt was suggested for the skeleton, to which he would go on to have a groundbreaking, history-making career. Competing in the skeleton for the first time in 2019, Matt won his first-ever medal in the World Cup the following year, finishing in second place, the highest placing by a British man since 2010. In 2021, Matt won his first-ever World Cup gold medal in a three-way victory. After competing in the 2022 Winter Olympics, Matt finished 15th. Matt then became European Champion the next year and won his first world title, becoming the second British man to be crowned skeleton champion. After winning the overall World Cup title in 2024, being the first British man in 16 years to win the series, Matt won another World Championship, becoming the first British man to be a two-time world skeleton Champion. In 2026, Matt added to his list of firsts by becoming the first British male to be an Olympic champion in the skeleton, setting a new track record with each of his four runs and securing the first victory by a British man in an individual event at the Winter Olympics since 1990. His achievements didn’t stop there, going on to win another gold medal at the games in the mixed team event with Tabitha Stoecker.
Matt is the first Briton to win two gold medals at a Winter Olympic Games and is the second male to ever win Olympic, World, European and World Cup titles, but the first to be champion in all four at the same time. As a result of his success, Matt has been featured in a vast range of media, including the BBC, The Telegraph, Sky Sports and more.

With multiple wins, titles, and now Olympic gold medals under his belt, he is the perfect addition to a multitude of events, from educational settings to inspire the next generation of athletes, to corporate engagements to motivate audiences in various aspects of life by drawing on his incredible sporting career.
