Beaumont’s sporting career is most notably remembered for his Grand Slam captaincy of the England Lions team in 1980; since retiring from rugby Beaumont has gone on to become the longest-standing host and team captain on the quiz show A Question of Sport, on which he appeared for 14 years.
His prominent career as a rugby player for both the England team and Flyde Rugby club in Lancashire make him an excellent choice for an after-dinner speaker; his experiences both on and off the pitch have provided him with a wealth of entertaining and inspirational content to present as a rugby speaker.
In 1999 Beaumont became the English representative of the International Rugby Board and in 2012 he became chairman of the Rugby Football Union; after captaining the English and Irish Lions to success in South Africa in 1980 Beaumont went on to become tour manager of the team for their 2005 tour of New Zealand. He is also managing director for his family’s textile company in Lancashire.
