Irvine proved his ferocious racing capabilities when not playing a secondary role to Schumacher. Eddie’s tenacious and combative style of driving made him a competitive and entertaining spectacle for F1 fans. It was only due to regulations awarding points to the top 6 drivers rather than 8 that prohibited Irvine from winning the World Championship in the 2001 season.
