Beginning his club career at Newcastle Falcons in 2003, Parling had won players’ player of the year award by the 2005-06 season. He captained the Falcons on serval occasions during the following season before signing a contract to play for Leicester Tigers in 2009.
The 2009-10 season kicked off with Leicester Tigers facing the Newcastle Falcons and ended with them winning the Guinness Premiership final. Parling is said to be a key component to this team win as he stole a line-out in the final minute of the game. He finished right on the Tiger’s try-line and was voted Newcomer of the Year by Tigers supporters. After a two year stint with Exeter Chiefs, Parling enjoyed two years with Munakata Sanix Blues before joining the Melbourne Rebels.
His international career began when he represented England at Under 16, 18, 19 and 21s level. He was eventually added into the England Saxon team where he played successful games against Ireland A and Italy A. Parling was also selected as part of the 44 man squad to tour Australia in 2010, he played in the first game against the Australian Barbarians but after sustaining a neck injury he missed selection of any other games.
Parling was then called up to the England senior squad in time for the Six Nations as a substitute for Louis Deacon who was injured. His performance in a very close loss against Wales earned him to stay at lock for following wins against France and Ireland, he finished the tournament as the first-choice lock above Tom Palmer. With his skill pretty evident, Geoff was selected for the 2013 British and Irish Lions tour to Australia.
