He began his rugby career playing for Maidenhead Rugby Club before he moved to join Wasps RFC in 2002. As a vital member of the 2007 Heineken Cup Final winning squad, he very quickly became a sought-after player by a variety of different teams and announced his signing to Stade Francais in 2009.
Throughout his prized sporting career, Haskell has made more than 260 appearances for a whole host of clubs including Highlanders, Wasps and his most recent team, Northampton Saints. He has also made a total of 100 appearances internationally for teams including Saxons, England and even the British and Irish Lions.
Most recently, James announced the end of his five-year stint with Wasps in order to join Northampton Saints in 2018. He later announced his retirement from professional rugby in 2019 prior to his signing to mixed martial arts promotion company, Bellator MMA as a heavyweight MMA fighter.
Over the course of a 17-year long career, James has made appearances at prolific games such as every round at the 2009 Six Nations where England won the Calcutta Cup, all three autumn internationals as part of Martin Johnson’s Elite Player Squad and throughout the British and Irish 2017 tour to New Zealand.
