Maria Agazio has dedicated her career to implementing solutions for efficient commercial and residential buildings, focusing on renewable energy, high-efficiency design and biodiversity preservation. Named in the 2022 Forbes 30 Under 30 List in the Energy category, Maria is an industry-leading sustainability and energy professional. Maria received her Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Sustainability and BBA in Sales & Marketing from Western Colorado University. Whilst she was studying, Maria gained experience as an intern in diverse departments. She was an Event & Sustainability Intern at Adams County Government, an Industrial design Intern at Loop, and a Material Flow Intern at TerraCycle. These internships allowed her to gain expertise in a myriad of disciplines, all of which come in handy to Maria in her present ventures.
Then, in 2017, she became the Sustainability Coordinator and Zero Waste Specialist at Western State Colorado University, where she worked to calculate the footprint of events and popular items across the campus. She then became the Sustainability and Energy Efficiency Lead at Motili before becoming the Principal and Co-Founder at Equitable Solar Solutions a non-profit that supplies low-income families with access to solar energy. In 2020, Maria took on the role of Sustainability and Business Development Specialist, before taking on her current position as the Transmission and Generation Project Manager at the Tri-State Generation and Transmission Association Inc.
Formerly the Co-Chair of the Committee on the Environment at the American Institute of Architects, she earned a certificate in Energy Efficiency Strategies for High-Performance Buildings from the US Green Building Council. She was also named an American Solar Energy Society Emerging Young Professional – a testament to her reputation in the field.
