Katarina's journey in sustainability began with research roles at Edelman and CERA in the early 2000s. She later joined the European Commission, where she was a Cabinet Member and Coordinator, shaping policies that influenced international energy and sustainability strategies. Her expertise in policy innovation led her to become a Lecturer at the Safadi-Stanford Initiative for Policy Innovation in 2010, where she was recognised as the Safadi Scholar of the Year. Her work with the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy in 2012 positioned her as a senior analyst driving the energy agenda in one of the world’s fastest-growing economies. She later co-chaired the Startup Working Group of the Sustainable Energy Association of Singapore, demonstrating her commitment to fostering innovation in sustainable energy.
In 2016, Katarina founded The August Company, where she served as Managing Director, offering strategic advisory services in sustainability. The same year, she joined the Board of the Alliance for Rural Electrification, further emphasising her commitment to green energy solutions for underserved communities. Her influence in energy financing grew with her involvement in the Private Financing Advisory Network and her leadership at Enrupt, a startup she founded in 2017 to drive innovation in the energy sector. Katarina continued to make an impact in advisory and leadership roles at Guidehouse and AESG, where she has been the Global Director of Strategy & Advisory since 2021. She has played a pivotal role in guiding businesses through energy transitions, net-zero strategies, and climate governance.
