After graduating with a BSc in Environment and Economics from Bath Spa University, Tom spent three years living as a Buddhist Monk in Thailand and Myanmar before returning to the UK and becoming an Account Manager at CarbonSense. In 2006, Tom joined Dyson as a Sustainable Innovation Advisor an a year later began his seven year tenure at CDP, beginning his career there as a Senior Account Manager before climbing the ladder to become the President of CDP North America. In 2013, Tom was approached by Christiana Figueres, who was then the Executive Secretary of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, and became her Senior Advisor. He offered support on political strategies and international discussions – most notably the Paris Climate Accord in 2015.
Continuing his work with Christiana, together they co-founded Global Optimism, where he works with businesses and governing bodies to supply sustainable strategies, tailored to his client’s unique industry. Co-founder of The Climate Pledge, a cross sector of organisations working to tackle the climate crisis.
