In 2019, Tara Shine was chosen as an environment and development consultant to travel to Antarctica as part of a global leadership programme for global female scientists, entitled Homeward Bound. She has used the opportunity to raise awareness of the climate crisis, the plastic problem and sustainability, but also to champion women in STEM, highlighting the field's considerable gender bias.
Her lifelong dedication has been to bettering the fair treatment of people and the planet and she has been able to showcase this commitment in a number of ways. As a thought leader in her field, she has influenced the formation of policies relating to community development and climate justice.
This has also seen her become a prolific public speaker, where she has spoken to the World Bank Group, the National Park & Wildlife Service, Irish Aid, The Elders and the Irish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Environmental Protection Agency, Ireland.
Head of Research at the Mary Robinson Foundation - Climate Justice, Dr Tara Shine offers unparalleled insight into the present and future of our climate emergency, informing on the challenges that governments, organisations and developing countries face. An engaging, positive and knowledgeable advisor, Dr Shine has spoken at industry-leading summits and conferences around the world. Her passion is infectious, as she has a real eye for change in many areas.
One of the most important environmental speakers and consultants of our time, Dr Tara Shine is an excellent choice to inform your organisation, corporation or institution on both the effects and the potential solutions to the environmental issues we face today.
