With a BSc in Optometry from the University of Bradford, Humaira developed a strong analytical foundation through her academic training in STEM. Alongside her work in healthcare, she discovered a powerful creative voice, blending scientific discipline with storytelling. This transition into media was crystallised when she became one of the New Voices of Bradford, delivering a deeply moving poem in tribute to her grandmother. That moment marked the start of a career defined by courage, emotional honesty and a commitment to amplifying underrepresented narratives. At age of 25, Humaira has worked at the heart of the BBC’s City of Culture coverage, playing a key role in ensuring Bradford’s people, heritage, and creativity received national recognition.
She has presented across several primetime platforms, including BBC One’s The One Show, BBC Radio 2 and BBC Radio 5 Live. Her wider presenting credits include BBC Breakfast, Look North, Celebrity Eid, Behind the Screens for Celebrity Bargain Hunt, and hosting Hidden Bradford on BBC Radio Leeds and BBC Sounds, as well as Big Up Bradford. Beyond broadcast, she has collaborated with major cultural and public institutions such as the Turner Prize, Visit England, the National Science and Media Museum and the Alhambra Theatre, also lending her voice as a narrator and voice-over artist.
Humaira is hired as a motivational speaker because she embodies possibility. Her story speaks to resilience, reinvention and staying true to one’s values while navigating high-pressure industries. She communicates with clarity and emotional depth, drawing on personal experience to inspire confidence, ambition and self-belief in others.
