Marc Lammers is one of the most respected figures in the international field hockey, renowned for transforming teams into world-class performers and pioneering innovative approaches to leadership, teamwork and high performance. Best known for coaching the Dutch national women’s field hockey team to Olympic success, Marc guided the squad to a silver medal at the Athens Olympic Games and later to Olympic gold in Beijing. Marc’s journey began as an elite player, representing the Dutch national men’s field hockey team in five international competitions and competing for 16 years in the Dutch Major League with Oranje Zwart and ’s-Hertogenbosch. After retiring from playing, he moved into coaching, initially working with youth teams before being appointed assistant coach to the Dutch national women’s team. Shortly before the Women’s Hockey World Cup in Utrecht, he took charge of the Spanish national women’s team and guided them to an impressive fourth-place finish at the Sydney Olympic Games. Soon afterwards, he returned to the Netherlands as head coach of the Dutch women’s national team, leading one of the most successful periods in its history. Later, Marc accepted the challenge of coaching the Belgian national men’s team, helping them achieve a runner-up finish at the European Championship and a top-five finish at the World Championship before retiring from international coaching.
