Fredrik Reinfeldt is one of Sweden’s most influential political figures of the modern era, shaping national and European policy across a period of economic upheaval and institutional change. He served as Prime Minister of Sweden from 2006 to 2014, becoming the longest-serving non-Social Democratic prime minister since Erik Gustaf. Alongside this, he led the Moderate Party from 2003 to 2015 and played a central role in repositioning centre-right politics in Sweden, balancing fiscal discipline with social responsibility.
Fredrik's political journey began early. At 18, he joined the Moderate Youth League and quickly emerged as a leading voice within the movement. From 1992 to 1995, he served as Chairman of the Moderate Youth League, followed by his role as Chairman of the Democratic Youth Community of Europe from 1995 to 1997. During this period, he also established himself as a political thinker, writing The Sleeping People, a book that challenged prevailing attitudes to welfare, work, and state responsibility, and signalled the ideological direction he would later pursue in government.
Elected Leader of the Moderate Party in 2003, Reinfeldt went on to help create the Alliance for Sweden, a broad centre-right coalition that transformed the country’s political landscape. As Prime Minister, his first term coincided with the 2008 financial crisis and the Great Recession, demanding steady leadership under global pressure. In 2009, he served as the last rotating President of the European Council, placing him at the heart of European decision-making during a defining moment for the EU. After leaving office, he continued to operate at the intersection of politics, economics, and global governance.
Beyond government, Fredrik has built a significant international advisory career. He founded Fredrik Reinfeldt AB as an adviser and lecturer, became Chairman of the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative in 2015, and was appointed Senior Adviser to Bank of America Merrill Lynch in 2016. That same year, he received H. M. The King’s Medal in recognition of his public service. More recently, he served as Chairman of the Swedish Football Association from 2023 to 2025.
Today, Fredrik Reinfeldt is hired as a keynote speaker for his rare ability to connect economics, politics, and geopolitics with clarity and authority. Drawing on experience leading Sweden through the global financial crisis and shaping policy at the European level, he offers first-hand insight into crisis leadership, EU power dynamics, market confidence, and long-term decision-making. His talks resonate with leaders navigating uncertainty, regulation, and global economic change.
