Paddy Lowe is the Founder and Director of Zero Petroleum – UK’s first synthetic fuel company. With extensive experience working across several teams and championships in F1, Paddy is etched in the F1 hall of fame as one of the most triumphant engineers and technical directors in Formula 1 history. Paddy completed his MA in Engineering from the University of Cambridge, after which he began his career as a Control Engineer at Metal Box Research & Development Ltd. The longest association Paddy has had with an F1 team was when he worked as the Head of Vehicle Technology, Chief Engineer, Engineering Director and finally Technical Director at McLaren Racing. In 2013, he joined as the Technical Director at Mercedes-AMG bagging 53 Grand Prix victories and working with Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg.
Two-time recipient of the Technical Director of the Year award, Paddy re-joined as CTO of Williams Martini Racing and began paying due attention to the environmental sustainability aspects of the sport. This set the foundation for Zero Petroleum and Paddy’s cause today. The Sir Jackie Steward Trophy winner has 158 Grand Prix wins and 12 World Championship titles with the Williams, McLaren, and Mercedes teams under his belt.
Surrounded by greats like Niki Lauda, Ayrton Senna, Mika Hakkinen, Fernando Alonso, and Lewis Hamilton, Paddy has imbibed a lot of their greatness, if not inspired it himself. An Honorary Fellow at Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge, and Fellow at the Royal Academy of Engineering he is also a Consultant at PALAD Technology today.
