The left-handed batsman, who also had a spell with Kent County Cricket Club during his career, retired from International Cricket across in 2007. Unfortunately for Nixon, his international wicket-keeping career came during the prominence of both Jack Russell and Alec Stewart, two of England’s greatest ever wicket-keepers. This limited his international opportunities, however, on the domestic scene he was extremely dominant and helped Leicestershire CCC win Championship titles in 1996 and 1998. Continually performing on the domestic stage has established Nixon as a top cricketer despite his lack of international exposure, something which isn’t achieved easily.

Since his retirement from cricket in 2011, Nixon has turned his attention to after-dinner speaking, being a highly sought-after and popular cricket speaker. His smooth and approachable nature has made him a favourite within the industry; a coherent cricket speaker who fought a constant battle to receive the International recognition he deserved, Nixon has nevertheless always been the player on the edge of the circle and of selection.
