Starting his career playing for Worcestershire, participating in games in the ECB 38-Country Cup, Steven eventually made his way up to making his senior debut for the team in 2004. After being awarded the NBC Denis Compton Award, Davies made his first-class debut against Loughborough UCCE.
It wasn’t long before Davies was called up to the England A squad and toured around Bangladesh in 2007 which opened up opportunities such as making his Twenty20 International debut for England and then go on to be called up to England’s Test squad.
Making it to his first ODI match, Davies saw a 9-wicket defeat against Australia in the ICC Champions Trophy semi-final. However, a year later in the Pakistan ODI Series, England were victorious with a score of 3-2 with Davies earning himself man-of-the-match in the first game with a top score of 87.
As well as being a highly successful and motivational cricket player, Davies was also the first international cricket player to come out as gay. A difficult yet life-changing revelation that made him one of the most influential figures in the sporting world.
A brave and powerful sportsman, ideal as a motivational keynote speaker at any corporate event or other function.
