Lucia Conconi is a highly experienced Formula 1 engineering leader, performance strategist and motivational speaker who has spent more than 20 years operating in some of the most demanding environments in world motorsport. Having held technical and leadership positions with organisations including Sauber, Mercedes, Renault, Brawn GP, Honda and Audi Sport, Lucia offers a rare perspective on achieving results when margins are exceptionally small and expectations are relentlessly high. Today, she translates lessons from elite motorsport into practical insights on leadership, innovation, teamwork and data-driven performance.
With a degree in aerospace engineering, Lucia developed her career through testing, vehicle dynamics and precision engineering. After working as a test engineer and progressing to Head of Testing Laboratory at CSI, she moved into elite motorsport with Audi Sport. There, Lucia worked on vehicle dynamics, performance simulation and testing across DTM and LMP programmes, supporting activity both trackside and at the factory. She subsequently entered Formula 1, working with Honda Racing before joining Brawn GP and then Mercedes, where her expertise centred on ride analysis, vertical dynamics optimisation and systems development.
Lucia continued to advance through increasingly senior positions with Lotus and Renault, becoming Suspension Performance Section Leader before joining Sauber Motorsport as Head of Vehicle Performance. She led more than 30 engineers and specialists across disciplines including vehicle dynamics, simulation, software development, data analytics, machine learning and driver in the loop simulation. Her leadership focused on connecting specialist functions, removing organisational silos and enabling faster, better informed decision-making. During her time in senior leadership, she contributed to Sauber achieving its strongest Constructors' Championship finish in more than a decade. Lucia has since expanded her work beyond the racetrack, advising organisations on strategy, leadership and performance, while also sharing her expertise as a Guest Trainer at SE Training GmbH.
As a motivational speaker, Lucia brings audiences inside a world where continuous improvement is essential and every decision can influence performance. Drawing on Formula 1, automotive engineering, precision engineering and her roots in aerospace, she demonstrates how organisations can align strategy with execution and transform fragmented groups into cohesive high-performing teams. Her experience leading multidisciplinary specialists also gives her compelling insights into communication, innovation and leadership under pressure. Lucia equips audiences with transferable principles from elite motorsport, showing how systems thinking, collaboration and disciplined decision-making can help people and organisations perform faster, smarter and more effectively.
