Hamza Yassin is an accomplished wildlife photographer and environmentalist who has been a part of several television programmes that showcase the bewilderment and beauty that lie in nature. Fondly known as Ranger Hamza, he is best known for his role on CBeebies’ Let’s Go For a Walk and has also written a children’s book entitled Let’s Go For a Walk. Hamza is now using his platform as a speaker to educate people about why it’s important to take care of our planet and all live that lives on it.
Hamza has had an exciting career that has helped him explore Scotland – his home since the age of 21. He has starred in Scotland: My Life in the Wild – a Channel 4 documentary about Hamza’s life, as well as Scotland: Escape to the Wilderness. He has also appeared on shows like This Morning, Countryfile and The One Show. In 2022, Hamza demonstrated his impeccable dancing skills when he starred on Strictly Come Dancing, emerging the winner of the series.
Despite being diagnosed with dyslexia as a child, Hamza excelled in studies, obtaining a degree in Zoology with Conservation from Bangor University and a Masters in Biological Photography and Imaging from the University of Nottingham. His passion for nature and photography culminated into him working with Jesse Wilkinson where he produced film inserts for Springwatch 2015 which was narrated by the legendary David Attenborough. Hamza has also worked on promotional videos for the 25th Anniversary of the Bird Fair in Rutland.
