Dr. Rosa Vásquez Espinoza is the Founder and Executive Director of the Amazon Research Internacional – a non-profit advancing Amazonian biodiversity preservation through conservation, education, and community empowerment. A chemical biologist, conservationist, and National Geographic Explorer, Rosa leads conservation and science initiatives in the Amazon Rainforest. Passionate about storytelling, Rosa is now available to speak on sustainability, leadership, education, and the many lessons she’s learned from her expeditions over the years when hired as a speaker.
Rosa has a strong academic foundation, having earned a BS in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the Tennessee Technological University and her PhD in Chemical Biology from University of Michigan. With years of experience as a research assistant, Rosa joined the National Geographic Society in 2019 as a National Geographic Explorer, where she specialises in investigating Amazonian species.
In 2023, Rosa became the Founder and Executive Director of the Amazon Research Internacional. Over the course of her career, Rosa has collaborated with some of the biggest organisations in the world including National Geographic, Walt Disney, and NASA. Rosa also narrated the Science Channel show “Secrets in the Jungle”. Rosa’s work has been featured by ABC Studios, Forbes, BeeCulture, Reporte Climatico TV Mexico, BCFM Radio UK, SOMOS, El Comercio, ASBMB, HITN-TV, and National Geographic Magazine.
Rosa has spoken at prestigious platforms such as the National Geographic Learning CENGAGE, NASA World Space Week, Planet Love 2.0 Launch with Pepsi Latin America, and the Garnier & L’Oreal Expo. Recipient of the 2020 American Chemical Society CAS Leadership Award and the 2019 Rackham International Research Award, Rosa advocates for scientific exploration of unexplored ecosystems, living more sustainably, and conserving fragile ecosystems.
