Hakan Nordkvist is best known for his contribution as the Head of Sustainability Innovation at IKEA Services – a role he handled efficiently for 10 years. With an innate ability to lead, H˚akan innovates and builds new businesses from their nascent stages to completion. Chair of Launch Nordic, a creative collaboration platform, Hakan has also been a Board Member of BoKlok, a company that builds high-quality, sustainable homes for people in Sweden, Norway, Finland, and the UK. Hakan’s association with ready-to-assemble furniture chain IKEA began in 2001. He joined as a Quality Manager at IKEA Trading, responsible for leading quality and environmental work for the IKEA trading and Supply Chain organisation.
In 2008, he led the IKEA group procurement in the construction area as the Global Category Manager of Construction for IKEA. Assuming multiple roles and responsibilities over the years, Hakan became the Head of Sustainability Innovation at IKEA services in 2011. It was during this time that he spearheaded IKEA’s Clean Energy Service business, through which they sold solar panels, heat pumps, renewable electricity across several countries and continents.
Highly educated with an MSc in Mechanical Engineering from the Lulea University of Technology, Hakan is an industry leader who specialises in the business dimension of sustainability.
