Hamza Yassin is an accomplished wildlife photographer and environmentalist who has featured in several television programmes that highlight the awe and beauty found in nature. Widely recognised as Ranger Hamza, he is best known for his role as Ranger Hamza on CBeebies’ “Let’s Go For a Walk” and his contributions to shows like “Countryfile” and “Animal Park”. Hamza now uses his platform as a speaker to educate the public on the importance of caring for our planet and all living creatures.
Despite being diagnosed with dyslexia as a child, Hamza excelled academically, earning a degree in Zoology with Conservation from Bangor University and a Master’s in Biological Photography and Imaging from the University of Nottingham. At the age of 21, he moved to Scotland to study local wildlife. Hamza’s passion for nature and photography led him to collaborate with Jesse Wilkinson to produce film inserts for “Springwatch” 2015, narrated by the legendary Sir David Attenborough. He has also worked on promotional videos for the 25th Anniversary of the Bird Fair in Rutland.
Now a well-known figure on television, Hamza has appeared on “Animal Park” and starred in “Scotland: My Life in the Wild”, a Channel 4 documentary about his life, as well as “Scotland: Escape to the Wilderness”. He has also made appearances on “This Morning” and “The One Show”. In 2022, Hamza demonstrated his remarkable dancing talent on “Strictly Come Dancing”, winning the series. Hamza is also a popular author who has published the children's book "Let's Go For a Walk", along with "Homeward Bound" and "Be a Birder" where he shares his love of nature.
