Sebastian Thrun is an entrepreneur, educator, and computer scientist, as well as CEO of Udacity and the Kitty Hawk Corporation. An AI enthusiast and expert, Sebastian’s experience working for companies like Google, and founding several companies, and teaching at institutions like Stanford University make him an interesting choice to speak at a range of corporate events.
Having obtained his PhD in Computer Science and Statistics from the University of Boon, Sebastian is an Adjunct Professor in the Computer Science and Electrical Engineering departments at Stanford University. In his time at Stanford, Sebastian was the leader of the Stanford Racing Team that went on to win the DARPA Grand Challenge in 2005. As the Director of the Stanford Artificial Intelligence Lab, he was responsible for putting together a team of AI faculty for the lab.
Best known for his expertise in probabilistic algorithms for robots with applications, in 2007 Sebastian became VP and Fellow at Google and founded Google X, Google’s hardware innovation shop. It was here that Sebastian created Google’s self-driving cars. Google X was also the birthplace of Google Glass, the Loon project, medical contact lenses and indoor localization.
