Jonas Kjellberg is a pioneering figure of the digital sector, famed for being one of the creators and Managing Director of Skype. Creating the communications platform back in 2004, Jonas has since worked for many other technology companies and is now the Chairman of the Board of NORNORM. Graduating with a Mechanical Engineering degree from KTH Royal Institute of Technology and a Masters in Industrial Marketing at Uppsala University, Jonas' expertise is backed by intensive education. Jonas' first major role came in 1998 after he worked as a Management Trainee for Kinnevik AB, becoming Managing Director of Optimal Telecom. After leaving the company, he founded Mobyson and Campuz Mobile, two technology companies one of which was sold to Vodafone in 2003. Prior to founding Skype, Jonas was also the VP of Communities for Lycos. The pinnacle of Jonas’ career came when he created Skype, the video calling service, alongside his business partners. Founded in 2004 and started in an office at Kammakargatan, Jonas headed up the Nordic Region for the company and it became a popular choice of communication, used worldwide today. Though he left the company in 2007, Jonas’ position as VP Head of Sales made him responsible for 90% of the revenue stream.
Jonas has since become a published and respected author, writing the titles Gear Up: Bring Business Opportunities to Life and Business Creation, Gear Up: Test Your Business Potential and Plan Your Path to Success. Jonas’ books have been translated into twelve languages and were nominated for The Management Book of The Year CMI award 2014.
