Brian Krebs is famed for his work as an investigative journalist, author and blogger in the field of cybercrime, security and computer crime. He is a New York Times best-selling author and has written titles like “Spam Nation: The Inside Story of Cybercrime, From Global Epidemic to your Front Door”. The man behind uncovering several high-profile cybersecurity breaches and stories, Brian is now available to speak at events on cybercrime, credit fraud, cyber malware, money laundering, cybersecurity, and computer crime.
Brian studied International Relations from the George Mason University and began his career in the circulation team of The Washington Post. While he started out running errands like sorting mail and taking notes whilst reporters carried out interviews, Brian had the yen and presence of mind to absorb whatever knowledge he could have as a fly on the wall. This trait can be credited to his success as a reporter at The Washington Post for fifteen years.
During his time at The Washington Post, Brian really honed in on his skills as an investigative journalist and wrote articles and blogposts. His primary focus shifted to cybercrimes and issues of cybersecurity after his own home network being attacked by Lion Worms, and has stayed there ever since, now nearly coming up on 20 years. Brian is credited with being one of the first few reporters to unearth the security breach of around 40 million credit cards by Target and the Stuxnet Malware case. Even though Brian no longer works with the Washington Post, he continues his investigative journalism through his role of Founder and Author of the riveting blog, KrebsOnSecurity.com. Brian is highly motivated to bring cybercriminals to justice through his investigative journalism.
A recipient of several awards like the 2004 Cybersecurity Journalist Award of Merit, 2009 Cybercrime Hero Award, 2010 Top Cybersecurity Journalist Award, 2014 Chairman’s Citation Award, 2019 Cybersecurity Person of the Year Award and the President’s Award for Public Service, Brian is clearly good at what he does. His book “Spam Nation” also won the 2015 PROSE Award. A regular invitee on Austrian, Canadian and Polish media, Brian is sure to be an apt choice for a dynamic speaker at your next event.
