Ian Clarke spent fifteen years working for leading international bank HSBC in several roles including being the VP of Global Banking Sales (Transaction Banking) of HSBC for four of those years. Now the Founder and Enforcer of Fairness and Accountability at The Deilightful Group, Ian is working towards ensuring that voices are raised against corporate systems that foster discrimination. He is now available to speak at a range of corporate events on diversity, inclusion, human identity and uniqueness, and human rights.
Having a BSc (Hons) in Financial Markets and Management from the University of Manchester and a BSc (Hons) in Psychology from the University of Lancaster, as well as several Chartered Accreditations in Diversity & Inclusion, International Cash Management, Securities and Investment Management, he also worked as an Information Systems Support Officer at The Royal Household early on in his career. Ian is now an Advisory Board Member at The Good Work Coalition.
Known as the world’s first banking whistle-blower, he was able to unearth the acts of discrimination that had been going on at the bank for years, even after he released his “Project Speak Up” DE&I report that aimed to bring to attention the misconduct. While he had expected to see some change in the banks’ operations, Ian was disheartened to see insufficient effort on the part of the senior management. Moreover, he received incessant flak from within the organisation and couldn’t help but leave the job he gave so much of his life to. However, he does not regret this as it allowed him to focus deeply on ensuring racial inclusion in industries.
Through “Project Speak Up” came the first-ever black female board appointment, the first-ever appointment of 3 Black board members at a leading international bank and a network of active whistle-blowers in the world of banking – and the credit for this goes to Ian. In his role at The Deilightful Group, he wants to illicit change from the grassroots, appreciating uniqueness. He is now available to speak at a range of corporate events where he discusses matters revolving around equality, diversity and inclusion, and uniqueness amongst other things. A courageous, empathetic, and experienced speaker, Ian Clarke would make a wonderful addition to your event. Enquire now!
