Anne has a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Chemistry from Swansea University and received an Honorary MBA from Middlesex University, whilst also working Standard Chartered Bank. Her career in banking flourished when she started working at Lloyds Banking Group, as a Programme Manager. From there Anne has worked in many roles at different banks including as the Vice President of Corporate and Institutional Banking at UBS, the Director and Chief Information Officer at the AON Corporation, Head of EMEA Global Transaction Services at the Royal Bank of Scotland and as Chief Operating Officer at Allied Irish Banks.
In 2014, Anne had had enough of the traditional banking system in the UK and therefore decided to start her own bank that was rooted in providing people with a fairer, smarter and more human option. Thus, Starling Bank was created, making Anne the first woman to found a UK Bank. Today, Anne is the CEO of Starling Bank, an app-based bank. Anne is also an author to a few books including her most recent book Banking On It: How I Disrupted an Industry.
A member of the World Economic Forum, Anne was also invited on to the UK Finance Board. Anne was honoured with the title of Member of the Order of the British Empire for her contribution to financial technology.
