Jodi-Ann Burey, an excellent TEDx speaker is also the creator and host of the Black Cancer podcast who speaks from her own experiences as a cancer survivor. She usually shares her views on the intersection between race, culture and health equity through articles, and has written titles like What Black Women’s Equal Pay Means to Me, Stop Telling Women They Have Imposter Syndrome and Three Ways Structural Racism Could Be Hurting You At Work. A barrel of knowledge and expertise on entrepreneurship and global health, she is able to educate and inspire with her work.
Jodi-Ann’s interest in healthcare began from the time she completed her Master’s in Public Health from the University of Michigan. Since then, she has been working to unearth the norms practiced in the healthcare sector that inconvenience people of colour, especially Black women during their treatment and care. Jodi-Ann has had the opportunity to work with people like Stacey Abrams, US Senator Cory Booker and Vice President Kama Harris.
Through the Black Cancer podcast she wants to foster a community where Black people suffering from cancer can learn from her own experience and in turn feel supported as they navigate this illness. She has also consistently been shaping audiences’ thinking on the systems, ideas and structures of oppression through her talks at corporate events.
