Educated with a PhD from the Sloan School of Management, Raghuram began his career in the academic sector, working as an Assistant Professor of Finance at the Booth School of Business. In 2003, he was appointed his first major financial role, becoming the Chief Economist of the International Monetary Fund. Building his expertise in finances and economics to an outstanding level, Raghuram was then appointed as the Chief Economic Advisor to the Indian Government, a role in which he urged the reduction of spending and redirecting the country to service and skilled manufacturing jobs.
