After obtaining a BS in Computer Science and an MBA in Marketing, Jia began his career as a Quality Assurance Manager for AtTask Inc. Here Jia began to build his passion for business, laying the foundations for his entrepreneurial visions that were to come. With AtTask, Jia transitioned from his roots of technology and programming into the marketing side of the business, developing a strong passion for marketing in particular. Jia was then given the opportunity to join Linkedin as an International Marketing Intern. Opening his eyes to the power and popularity of social media, Jia played a part in expanding the use of Linkedin to Chinese users as well as co-designed marketing material for major superstars.
Gaining invaluable experience and knowledge, Jia was then able to progress to become a Web Analytics and Testing Manager for Dell. Using his education in computer science, Jia pioneered the development and redesign of the Dell mobile site and was fortunate to work for one of America’s largest organisations. Having now worked for a number of credible organisations that sat at the helm of different industries, Jia was inspired to begin his own business ventures. In 2013 he founded Hooplus and became the CEO of the firm. With the vision to improve workforces in terms of effectiveness and fulfilment, Jia hoped to make casual promises into great business.
Having experienced working life in some of the largest corporations, Jia began to realise that rejection was a key part of life. After extensive research Jia created the blog 100 Days of Rejection, exploring rejection and human psychology in the bid to help people be more successful in business. To further the reach of his expertise, Jia also authored Rejection Proof: How I Beat Fear and Became Invincible Through 100 Days of Rejection. In 2016, Jia founded Rejection Therapy, becoming the CEO of the website that he acquired from the card game designed by Jason Comely. Rejection Therapy is a website providing knowledge and products that help people overcome their fears of rejection. Jia also founded Wuju Learning, providing training to a variety of clients from offices to universities in the art of accepting rejection. Using his own personal experiences of rejection and combining them with scientific-based approaches, Jia has pioneered astounding training and development programmes.
Establishing a reputation as an authority of emotional intelligence, Jia has since gained popularity as a public speaker sought for the expertise of overcoming rejection. A resilient individual, Jia teaches corporate audiences to harness setbacks in life and push to overcome them, encouraging workforces to become mentally resilient and see the negatives in a more positive light. Jia has contributed to various publications and broadcasters, such including Forbes, Wired, Business Insider and Today, and is also a seasoned TED talker. A top keynote speaker, Jia is a truly engaging speaker.
