Rich Diviney is a former Navy Seal, bestselling author, speaker, and Simon Sinek Optimist, drawing from more than two decades of service, leadership, and performance. As a Navy Officer, Rich built a knowledge of intelligence analysis, counterterrorism and operational planning, along with various life skills which he is able to bring forth as a public speaker.
After graduating with a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science and Government History, Rich became a United States Navy Officer in 1996. Having completed the Navy Reserve Officer Training Course, Rich’s dreams of joining the military became a reality, and he went on to serve within the forces for 20 years. During his time in service, Rich oversaw the identification and cultivation of the top performers as the Officer in Charge of Training and Selection for an elite SEAL Command. Upon leaving the forces in 2016, Rich became the Director of Outreach and a Senior Facilitator for Chapman & CO Leadership Institute, using the experiences he gathered in the Navy to push the company’s philosophies of leadership that are human-centred. Passionate to spend every day inspiring and discovering various concepts to better people’s lives and achieve potential, Rich was led to read Simon Sinek’s Start With Why. Inspired by Simon’s words, Rich was fortunate to strike up a friendship with Simon, soon becoming a Simon Sinek Optimist. As a Simon Sinek Optimist, Rich is motivated by Simon’s ideas and is frequently seen discussing how to build qualities of high-performance teams.
Rich is also known for creating the first Mind Gym, which aims to help SEALS to perform better in the demanding, high-stress environments they are faced with. For a world full of uncertainty, complexities and ambiguity, he has written two bestselling books, including 'The Attributes' and 'Masters of Uncertainty', distilling the skills needed to thrive under pressure and how to navigate chaos successfully. Through his writing, Rich launched The Attributed Inc., a speaking and consulting business transforming how corporations hire, grow, and develop leaders.
