Passionate LGBT advocate, Justin Bengry is famed as the convenor of the world’s first MA in Queer History and the Director of the Centre for Queer History at the University of London. A prolific commentator on LGBT history for top media outlets, Justin has been featured in the New York Times and The Guardian. A passionate educator, Justin is creating a more inclusive future for the LGBT community by increasing awareness of LGBT history. Currently working as the Director of the Centre for Queer History at the University of London, Justin has channelled his passion into creating the world’s first Masters degree in Queer History. He has also formerly worked as a Teaching Assistant for the University of Lethbridge, Teaching Assistant in Twentieth-Century World History for The University of British Columbia and an Instructor in European Gender History for the University of California. He has also worked on the Queer Beyond London project and has been the recipient of various fellowships at top educational establishments. He has formerly been a Postdoctoral Research Fellow and Honorary Research Fellow in the Department of History, Classics and Archaeology at Birkbeck. He has also formerly been the Lead Project Researcher of Pride of Place for Historic England and is set to release his book Locating Queer Histories: Places and Traces in the UK in 2022. He has also contributed scholarly articles, such as the titles Who Is the Queer Consumer? and Queer Profits: Homosexual Scandal and the Origins of Legal Reform in Britain.
