Carly Steel is a neurodiversity consultant, educator and founder specialising in autism, ADHD, masking, burnout and inclusive practice, particularly for girls and women. As an autistic and ADHD professional herself, Carly combines lived experience with extensive professional expertise, making her a highly respected voice on authentic inclusion and neurodivergent wellbeing. She is hired as a speaker for her honest, practical and thought-provoking approach to understanding neurodivergence in education, workplaces and wider society.
After beginning her career in 2010 as a Further Education SEN Tutor at Homefield College Limited, Carly supported young adults with learning difficulties through both one-to-one and group learning programmes. Alongside building practical classroom experience, she completed a Master’s degree in Autism, a PGCE and leadership qualifications, including a Level 5 Certificate in Leadership and Management. In 2013, she joined MacIntyre as a Community Learning Facilitator before progressing into specialist educational roles, including Autism Specialist Teacher at Birchwood Special School, Programme Coordinator and eventually Curriculum Manager at MacIntyre, developing inclusive learning environments and specialist support programmes.
Carly’s leadership career expanded through her involvement with New Leaf Triangle CIC, where she became Executive Director in 2014 and later Head of Education in 2022. Through these positions, she championed neuro-affirming practice and person-centred education while supporting neurodivergent young people, families and professionals. In 2023, she founded Carly Steel Consultancy, providing specialist consultancy, training and support to schools, organisations and workplaces. She further expanded her impact in 2025 by launching Rise As We Are CIC, continuing her mission to create spaces where neurodivergent individuals feel understood, valued and empowered.
Alongside her consultancy and leadership work, Carly has spoken at conferences, webinars and training events, including the Autism & ADHD Show, where she appeared as a keynote speaker in 2025. Her writing has been published in the Good Autism Practice Journal and Autism Parenting Magazine, and she is currently writing a book exploring authenticity, masking and belonging in neurodivergent women. Combining professional expertise with lived experience, Carly delivers keynote talks that challenge outdated narratives around autism and ADHD while equipping audiences with practical strategies to build genuinely inclusive environments.
