Imagine the scenario; Charlotte was just 17 in 2009 when she became England’s champion skier. She was on top of the world until she suffered a serious injury to her cruciate ligament. Although she was crestfallen, Evans was encouraged to work as a site guide to partially sighted skiers and she teamed up with partner Kelly Gallagher.
Four years later at the Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia, the motivational speaker and Gallagher won Britain’s first ever Winter Games gold medal in skiing – the Women’s Super-G (guided). Incredibly, Charlotte had gone from being the top Brit to having her future career thrown into doubt to being on top of the world. Along the way, Evans was awarded an MBE for services to Paralympic sport.
