Now, Steve is one of the most recognised faces in the sport, having been involved in numerous television programmes, in addition to his role as a Sky Sports Scholar and a Sky Sports Living for Sport mentor.
Following wins at the British National Championships in 2006 and the European Championship in 2007, Steve narrowly missed selection for the 2008 Beijing Olympics but was honoured to lead the Olympic and Paralympic Parade of the Heroes through London on the team’s return.
Wheelchair rugby, also known as Murderball, is a fast-paced, frantic, full-contact sport of which its exposure has grown exponentially in recent years, and Steve became a household name in his own nation when he led the GB wheelchair rugby team at the 2012 Olympics in London.
An inspirational athlete to all, and a role model athlete with a never say die attitude, Steve is undoubtedly one of the most inspirational athletes to currently offer his services as an after-dinner speaker.
