Rachel first began her career in reporting, working for BBC Radio Suffolk and has since presented on the radio for 14 years. She then shortly joined BBC Radio Bristol, gaining co-hosting credits of the breakfast show. In 2003 she was appointed by Radio 5 Live, taking charge of the breakfast show on weekdays. In 2015 she joined the BBC, appointed as a regular presenter of BBC Breakfast.
Through her various presenting appointments, Rachel has built a reputation as a personable and confident reporter who reacts quickly to unexpected moments that suddenly arise on live television. Most recently she has covered serious and topical subjects in her presenting, reporting on the terror attacks which happened in Paris and Manchester and has also been embedded with Army troops in Afghanistan. She has also covered various political news stories, such including presidential elections in America, and anchored sporting news from events such as the Olympic Games and the World Athletic Championships.
Outside of presenting on television, Rachel dedicates her time to delivering public speeches and hosting conferences. Through her speaking, Rachel passionately advocates for a number of pressing modern-day issues. She is a keen advocate for the support of females in the workplace, ensuring that they have equal opportunity and are treated with respect. She is frequently seen acting as a mentor for other female employees and has also championed equal pay campaigns to ensure that females receive equal pay to males. Along with her public speaking engagements, Rachel is also an ambassador of Retrak. Retrak is a charity with the vision to help disadvantaged and vulnerable children who unfortunately live in some of the poorest environments known to the planet, and Rachel proudly supports their efforts.
