Beginning his professional career in 1960, Sir Bob Charles has gone on to play in all the major European and global golfing tournaments; he has won the PGA Tour 6 times, the European Tour four times and the Champions Tour a whopping twenty three times! Despite all his other victories, he is probably best known as the first 'lefty' to win a golf major and he went on to win over 70 titles in his long playing career.
In recognition for his success and contribution to the sport, Sir Bob was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2008. He also received the New Zealand Order of Merit in 1999 and the Order of New Zealand in 2010.
