Now minus the iconic haircut, Waddle is seen regularly on football programmes sharing his professional opinions on matches and players.
With a successful career that stretched 20 years from 1978 to 1998, the motivational speaker played for such major English clubs as Newcastle United FC (170 appearances), Tottenham Hotspur FC (138) and had shorter stints at Sheffield Wednesday FC, Bradford City FC and Sunderland FC. He also played in France for Olympique de Marseille earning an impressive 107 caps. In all, Chris made 663 appearances in a league football and scored a very respectable 126 goals in all.
Internationally, Chris played for England Football Team for six years, claiming 62 caps and scoring six goals. Unfortunately for him and for England, he didn't score the goal that would have made him an England legend - famously missing in the penalty shoot-out during England's ill-fated 1990 World Cup Semi-Final against West Germany.
Waddle did try his hand at Football Management, running Burnley FC for a year, but he has since focused on TV punditry and football speaking, entertaining audiences with his engaging personality and outspoken views.
