Most notably, PFA Players' Player of the Year 1993, FWA Footballer of the Year 1995, Golden Foot Legends Award 2012 and the UEFA President's Award 2019. In 2002, Eric was inducted into the inaugural English Football Hall of Fame and was named as one of FIFA’s 100 Greatest Living Footballers in 2004.
