After graduating from high school, Mark had a shining football career laid out ahead of him. He was a three-year letterman from the University of Washington and ended the 1984 season with a win at the Orange Bowl. A year after graduating, he was selected by the Los Angeles Raiders in the seventh round of the 1985 NFL Draft. Throughout his sports career, he was voted as the player of the year twice, inducted into the Roosevelt Hall of Fame and the Husky Hall of Fame as part of the 1984 team.
Whilst setting up several successful businesses in industries such as gaming, retail and digital media, Pattison decided to take it upon himself to climb the seven summits. Having reached a low point in his personal life, Mark turned to nature and has since managed to reach a total of five out of seven of the worlds tallest peaks. So far he has heroically conquered Mt Kilimanjaro, Mt Elbrus, Mt Kosciuszko, Aconcagua and Denali and he has Everest and Vison pending.
With his success story proving to be extremely popular with the public, Pattison released his own podcast titled Find Your Summit in 2017. In the hour-long episodes, the mountaineer invites highly regarded guests to discuss how they overcame obstacles and powered their drive in order to succeed. He also highlights that “it’s not about the summit, it’s about the journey” in a bid to motivate his listeners.
Combining the teamwork and leadership skills from his football career with the ability to maintain mental resilience and determination discovered in his summit quest, Mark Pattison is able to tailor his motivational speeches to his audience to ensure they’re fully effective. As a sportsman, entrepreneur and mountaineer, Pattison’s speeches are entirely versatile and suited for a wide range of audiences. He promotes a ‘can-do’ attitude whilst referring back to his many career ventures and telling the story of how he went from good to great.
