The grandson of Italian-born boxer Luigi Silvano, Micky is a Merseysider who has hit the headlines not just for his goal-scoring prowess – he once served a fortnight in prison (he was sentenced to 21 days) after breaching a driving ban that he had received after being found guilty of driving under the influence of alcohol.
Back on the pitch, motivational speaker Micky was carving a name for himself as a top goalscorer for Newcastle United, where he is considered to be a bit of a hero. In the 1989-90 season he managed to score 39 goals across all competitions, the highest that season. However, Quinn fell out with the subsequent Newcastle manager Kevin Keegan and he moved on.
After retiring from football, Quinn moved into racehorse training and then became a much-loved presenter on the talkSPORT radio station where he covers both of his favourite sports.
